Air Purifier Services in the Barrie Region
Today’s indoor air quality products are superior in many ways, but if getting rid of multiple types of contaminants, including biological ones, is your main need from an IAQ product, you’ll want to look at using an electronic air cleaner.
There are two types of electronic air cleaners: electrostatic precipitators and ion generators. Air filters can trap some biological contaminants, but because these particles are very small in nature—typically under 0.3 microns—they can be hard to trap. This is where use of an electronic air cleaner comes in. With expert installation and service by the award-winning indoor air quality experts, you can rid your home of most contaminants, including allergens, viruses and bacteria. Call us today and schedule an appointment with one of our IAQ specialists to see if air purification is what you need for your home in the Barrie area.
Custom Comfort ClimateCare offers quality electronic air cleaners and provides air purifier services in Barrie and the surrounding areas. Call us today to schedule an appointment.
How Do Electronic Air Cleaners Work?
As we mentioned above, there are two types of electronic air purifiers you can use in your home: an electronic precipitator or ion generator. Both types of electronic air cleaners use electricity to capture contaminants in your home, but each does so in a different way:
- Electrostatic precipitators
- Electrostatic precipitators work by drawing particles into them with a fan. The components are housed in a small metal cabinet, and once the draw–in particles are inside the cabinet, they enter an ionization section where they are negatively charged. As the particles continue through the chamber, they are captured by oppositely charged metal collection plates. It is important to clean these plates every three months so that the precipitator continues to work effectively.
- Ion generators
- Ion generators also charge particles, but they do so by dispersing negative ions into the air, not by drawing particles and contaminants to it. Another difference ion generators have from electrostatic precipitators is that there are no collection plates upon which the contaminants are collected. Instead, the dispersed negative ions attach themselves to the particles and contaminants in your air, and these newly charged particles are attracted to the surfaces in your home. The particles are then removed when the surfaces are cleaned.
